UK retailer Marks & Spencer has unveiled new refrigeration targets as part of its Plan A environmental programme.
The upmarket retailer has set itself a target of halving its carbon footprint by 2015, through a combination of new carbon dioxide systems, conversion to lower GWP refrigerants and a reduction in refrigerant leakage. Marks & Spencer has committed to remove HFCs from all refrigeration and air conditioning systems by 2030, adding CO2 systems to all its new stores.
It is currently replacing systems using R404A with lower emission GWP R407A systems. It will have converted 100 stores by March, aiming to convert all remaining stores over the next five years.
