FRANCE: CARREFOUR France brings product information to mobile phones
French retailer Carrefour is currently carrying out a test to bring product information to customers’ mobile phones, LSA reported.
Two-dimensional codes have been attached to articles such as laptops. Customers who download a free code reader application can use their mobile phones to take a picture of the 2D code and then receive additional product information on their mobile phones such as a 360° view of the product etc.
Carrefour already operates a site dedicated to mobile phone commerce (www.m.carrefour.fr). Carrefour has been using the GS1 technology standard to develop this new service. Last year, Franprix and Auchan carried out a similar test and brought product information about wine to customers’ mobile phones.
